Iris, the slightly eccentric actress, and Eva, her younger and more reserved counter part, run away from home to jumpstart Iris's career. Bloom leads us on a decade long journey following the lives of the sisters and their makeshift, eclectic family, who they have adopted along the way, all the way to the East coast.
Thoughtful and true to life, the novel encompasses the tragedies and comedies of coming of age during the wartime. Bloom captures the feel of the time so well, you would think the book was written in the same time period. Think E.L. Doctorow's Ragtime.
