3 Ways to Make Finals Week Easier

IMG_1884

Finals week can be absolutely awful. Five short days of absolute torture. Between studying for actual exams and writing research papers, it's nearly impossible not to feel like the week may never end. Here are five seemingly counterproductive ways to make the week just a little more bearable:

1. Read

...and I don't mean your textbook. Leave the books for your final exam alone and pick up something much easier to read. Reading for fun, rather than to complete a paper or pass an exam, is the perfect way to unwind between study sessions or papers. This weekend I took a few hours to read The Knockoff, a super light and easy read that pokes fun at the stereotypical millennial in the fashion world, it was the perfect way to relax, without feeling like I really wasted an valuable study time.

2. Nap

If you can, take some time to catch up on sleep during the day. As long as you don't allow yourself to sleep for too long you'll wake up feeling refreshed. The once super dense literature anthology just might seem a little easier to get through. That 1000 word requirement for your final paper may seem like just a little less of an uphill climb with rested eyes.

3. Start Packing

Packing up everything in your room is completely overwhelming and exhausting. Starting early rather than waiting until the night before you leave can make the process 100 times easier. This adds a little variation to your week if you split up your room by types of items. Pack your books that you are finished with earlier, then your desk, then most of your clothes, and finally shower stuff. Start with the things you won't need for the rest of the week, then slowly work towards packing up everything on the last morning.

What are your tips for surviving finals?
