Snow Days

FullSizeRender-3Living on campus can be incredibly annoying at times, especially after five semesters. The charm of living in the same building as all of your friends wears off and you spend more time wishing you could just escape than enjoying your last few semesters of college. The lack of personal space and time alone leaves you feeling trapped on a campus that seems to shrink by the minute.

The best thing to do at times like this is to go off campus. Just driving around a new area can be incredibly helpful. Exploring a new place, even if it's right down the road from school, makes living at school so much more bearable. You begin to notice that there is a world outside of your school. Not everyone is trapped on campus forever, so slowly you are able to enjoy it more.

Last week it snowed enough that we had an entire day off from school. In fact, it looks like we may have another snow day tomorrow, because it's snowing even more now. Driving around the city when nearly everyone is snowed in is such a different experience than on a normal day. Streets are covered in snow, people move slower, schools are closed, and overall everything just seems to slow down. There's nowhere to go because, this winter it seems, the snow just keeps falling once it starts.

It actually is pretty despite the freezing temperatures. Eventually, your toes start to feel numb and you almost forget that your coat is nearly soaked through and the snow actually starts to look nice. Of course, the next day it'll stop snowing, roads are cleared, classes start, and the snow becomes incredibly annoying again.
