Here are my four tips for breaking up your homework into manageable chunks so you don't fall behind.
1) Make a list. I know this is kind of interchangeable with writing your assignments in an agenda, but trust me this is important too. At the beginning of the weekend or even Thursday night make a list of everything you need to get done. Divide it up by the day it has to be done by. High priority/ low priority
2) Wake up. Don't sleep in until 3pm on the weekends. You're wasting valuable time where you could be squeezing in a chapter or two of studying or even a whole assignment. Get your work done during the day and then the night is all yours.
3) Start Friday afternoon. I know how tempting it is after your last class of the week to through your books in the corner and just relax. But think about it early Friday afternoon aren't you kind of bored anyway? For me it seems like it's the weekend but it's still early so I don't really know what to do. It's easy to waste that time watching tv or napping. But seriously just cross one thing off your list before you truly begin your weekend and you'll be a lot more relaxed.
4) Get serious. Come Sunday afternoon when you realize the weekend is ending and you have a full week of class ahead of you and work left to be done, get serious. Don't spend the day procrastinating and watching tv while your textbook is open in front of you. Put on your blinders, turn off the tv, get into the library or somewhere quiet and just get it done. A lot of times that's all it takes to tackle your big assignments, just do it.
